World Health and Safety Day at Aluflexpack Group

The annual World Day for Safety and Health at Work on 28 April promotes the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally. It is an awareness-raising campaign intended to focus international attention on the magnitude of the problem and on how promoting and creating a safety and health culture can help reduce the number of work-related deaths and injuries.”

Continuously building together a safe and healthy culture is a long-term goal at Aluflexpack Group. Working in a manufacturing environment can be challenging, especially for production and operational employees. That is why we decided to dedicate this whole week to raising awareness among our employees about the importance of taking care of health and safety in the workplace through numerous tailor-made lectures, training, and safety quizzes.

This year we decided to focus on the main safety hazards present in our day-to-day business and how we can help our employees identify and learn all about controls mitigating those hazards.

We have put special emphasis on the most common hazards present at each plant, such as noise, mechanical hazards etc. We talked about how those hazards affect our health and well-being, how to take care and to prevent potential injuries, both those that occur at once and those that develop over time. We used this time to raise awareness about the importance of wearing the right Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the right task.

Lastly, we will practice and learn how to report all those hidden potential injuries, those health and safety incidents waiting to happen: such as near misses, unsafe acts, and conditions.

Anja Flego Borovina, our Group Head of HSE emphasizes: “By identifying such hidden but important events, we slowly raise HSE awareness and work our way towards a safer, healthier working environment. We need to be aware that creating a safe culture takes time and patience and it all starts by raising awareness of occupational health and safety topics and celebrating World Health and Safety Day. Only together we can build a safe and proactive culture.“
